Mohamed Lamine

Took a dinghy from Senegal to Tenerife in November. But his journey begin way sooner. Mohamed was born in the region of Kindia, in Guinea-Conakry 19 years ago. One day, when he was six years old, he found his parents dead in his house. From that moment on, his aunt raised him. Unfortunately, she passed away from Ebola in 2015.

Mohamed left his home country and the professional football team where he played as a left wing defender when he was 14 years old. A friend of his led him to the region of Casamanza, where he sold a variety of items, such as coffee, to earn a living.

Although Mohamed speaks four languages, he cannot put into words or express all the details concerning what he has gone through until arriving in this place. His voice trembles when he talks about the days on the dinghy, when he remembers all the loved ones he lost when he was a child.

“In Las Raíces, your soul cannot be calm”, he says. The conditions in that place are really poor and everything seems to be in a constant delay. His project is to arrive in Monaco, where he has some friends and where he expects to work… Maybe as a football player?
