Earned between 150 and 230 euros every two months working as a fisherman in Saint-Louis, Senegal. Since the Senegalese government signed the last agreements in terms of fishing, allowing both the European ships that fished in Mauritania to extend his territory of action to Senegalese waters and the Chinese fleet to exploit their shoals, the amount of fish for the local fishermen is very scarce.
After eight months in Tenerife, two of them living in Las Raíces, Tidiane says and understands some words in Spanish, although Wolof is his mother tongue. He wants to go to Barcelona because he has a friend living there who can give him shelter and assistance in the process of finding a job. Some of his friends have already gone, but he cannot continue with his journey.
Tidiane wants to give economical support to his parents. He is 20 years old and has a huge enthusiasm to work, as huge as the sea where he worked, as huge as the sea who witnessed his arrival. The same sea where he was for nine days, sometimes without any food or water. The same sea where there doesn’t seem to be more fishes for fishermen like him.
