Samounou Barrai

Was born 43 years ago in Kita, Mali. The soldiers burst into his town and viciously killed his father and mother along with other thirty people in 2015. They sacked and burned their houses. They hit civilians such as Samounou for no particular reason. He hid away with his wife, his three daughters and his son. He tried to find the way of sending his family to Soroma, where his mother-in-law lives, as he started his journey to Algeria. He went to Gao on foot, and then he went north from that point. He settled in the town of Saoula, Algiers. He was living there for five years, farming tomatoes. He heard that there was a way of arriving in Spain from Morocco. Hence, Samounou was constantly moving on based on the jobs he was finding just to reach the goal of travelling to Spain. He lived in Uchda, El Aaiun, Tan-Tan, Dajla. He needed a lot of money to take a dinghy from the Moroccan shores, so he worked in everything he could for a year. He hopes for the day in which he is granted political asylum. He wants to arrive in Madrid where he hopes to find a job. From that place, he can claim for his family, as he hasn’t seen them for six years, knowing they are still living in danger in Mali.
