Youssef Laghrissi

Comes from Marrakech, like Abderahim Aamir. They became friends in Las Raíces although they briefly knew each other before migrating, as they were neighbours in Morocco. They lived a few meters away from each other.

Youssef was a student. Maybe his marks weren’t as high as he would have liked to, but he put all his effort into it. He is the oldest of his two siblings. That’s why, despite being only 19 years old, he looked for a way of getting the equivalent to 2,500 euros and for the necessary contacts to opt for a seat on a dinghy to the Canary Islands. He spent three days in the ocean along with 60 other people. They spent more than one of those three days without food.

In Morocco, he left his mother and father, who worked farming potatoes and onions. He left his brother, who goes on studying, and his younger sister.

His dreams point to Murcia, as he has a cousin who has lived there for 12 years and some friends working there. He would like to work there, as a farmer for instance, as he doesn’t care about the harshness of the job as long as he can earn some money for his family. The hobbies he may have as a teenager will have to wait a little longer.
